Trip Description

On this two-day extension tour, we explore one of the most famous places in Myanmar. The journey starts in Yangon as we travel to the main highlight of this tour, "The Golden Rock Pagoda Tour''; believed to originate 2500 years ago and standing still on the summit of Mt. Kyaiktiyo. On our way to the Golden Rock, we arrive at the Kinpun base camp on a fun-filled truck ride. Traveling further to the Kyaiktiyo we visit the ancient Pagoda for its beautiful sunrise and sunset. Take a chance and explore around the gravity-defying rock, considered to be standing still on a single strand of Lord Buddha's hair.This extension tour ensures our travelers have the best experience visiting one of the most sacred and revered pilgrimage sites in Myanmar. Our trip ends with a short detour of the historical city Bago. We tour around some of the significant landmarks in the ancient city of Bago and return to Yangon for our final departing flight.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 : Yangon to Kinpun Base Camp-Kyaiktiyo
We start our adventure in the early morning. We start our trip to Kyaiktiyo famously known as the “Golden Rock.” For the rest of the day, our guide and driver at our service and will be ready to pick us up at the hotel. The Golden Rock is a site of reverence, valued and admired highly by the locals. It is an enormous boulder wholly covered by gold leaves and stands deftly balanced on the edge of a cliff. A landmark that is majorly known for holding a high religious value, but its gravity-defying structure makes it a remarkable site to visit in Myanmar.
We arrive at the Kinpun Base camp and rest for a bit. From Kinpun, we take a local truck (usually an hour drive) which is typically used for the rough track up to the summit. We check-in at the hotel in Kyaiktiyo and visit the Golden Rock, watch the beautiful sunset at this important pilgrimage site.

Day 02 : Kyaiktiyo to Bago - Yangon by Car
After our early morning breakfast at the hotel, we visit the Golden rock pagoda for its magnificent sunrise. Before proceeding on to Yangon and sightseeing at Bago also referred to as the ancient Mon Capital. We begin our sightseeing tour of the Mon Capital that includes over a thousand years old structure the Shwemawdaw Pagoda; its spire is even taller than Shwedagon Pagoda, a 55-meter long reclining Shwethalyaung Buddha image is among the country’s most esteemed monuments and Kyaik Pun Pagoda; home to the four-seated Buddha shrine. The Hanthawadi Palace: Kanbawza Thadi, the famous palace of King Bayinnaung (1551 – 1581 A.D.) is being extensively excavated, and some buildings are going through the renovation phase. We return to Yangon through a rural landscape of paddy fields and small villages. We can also opt to visit the Taukkyan War Cemetery.

Accommodation

The hotels’ standards in Myanmar vary, especially in quality and availability. Our accommodation will be on deluxe hotels (4-5 stars) during the entire trip whenever possible. We provide an upgraded hotel option (luxury) for at a cost of USD 750 for low season and USD 1000 for high season. If a particular hotel is unavailable during the period of booking, then alternative suggestions of the same category will be provided by the company.

Meals

Myanmar cuisine is established around rice or noodles, usually served with a variety of curries between meat and fish, along with a dish of vegetables, salads, soup, and condiments. Myanmar curries tend to be less spicy than those served in Thailand. Meals & drinks at international hotels are considerably expensive. There are many good local restaurants with almost the same quality of food and hygiene as hotels but at reasonable prices. They serve various dishes of Myanmar, Chinese, European (French and Italian), Thai and Indian cuisine. However, small roadside restaurants are not recommended, as it can be risky for health.Restaurants and food served towards the travelers are carefully selected for hygiene as well as gastronomic considerations.
