Explore the mix of modern and traditional cultures in the Chinese mega-city of Beijing by taking a trip to the Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City, and a tour of the narrow alleys called ' Hutong' on a tricycle. Take a cable car, toboggan and fantastic high-speed train ride from Beijing to northeast Xi' an all in a day to the UNESCO world heritage site, " Terracotta Army Museum." Walk around the rectangular Xi' an Ancient Circumvallation located at the center of Xi' an city constructed by the imperial capital in Tang dynasty in the early Ming Dynasty (1373-1378).
Hop on a late afternoon train from Xi' an to Chengdu and visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, a breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. Try out a local Sichuan hotpot for a taste of the local cuisine. Take a flight from Chengdu to Lhasa along with two essential monastries of Lhasa. Explore and experience the grandest of these myriad chapels.
We are picked up by a guide in the airport and transferred to the hotel. We take a break and get acquainted with the time difference in China. We recommend our travelers to try the famous ' Peking Duck' in Beijing and rest well.
Overnight in Beijing.After breakfast, we visit our sight-seeing of some of the famous landmarks in Beijing the Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City while enjoying a tour of Hutong on a tricycle. Hutong is an ancient city in Beijing, where hutongs or narrow alleys in northern Chinese cities run into several thousand. The Forbidden City is known for reflecting the history to the Yuan (1206-1341), Ming (1368-1628) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. The Tiananmen square is considered a landmark of great significance and also coined after Tiananmen; ''the gate of heaven.
Overnight in Beijing.We visit the Mutianyu Great Wall, a northern barrier of what is now Beijing through ages keeping the peace. We can either take a cable chair or walk a thousand steps up to the Great Wall and walk around for some while. The construction of the Mutianyu Wall started in the mid-6th century during China's Northern Dynasties (386-581) and what now remains is the interior restoration made during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). We travel in a cable car uphill and toboggan downhill.
Overnight in Xi'an.Note: Apart from walking, we can opt for a cableway up to the No. 14 Watchtower. The lower station near the North Entrance is easily accessible. It is a preferable option compared to luge. It is even suitable for children and senior visitors. Later we return to the hotel for an overnight stay at Xi' an.
We have breakfast at the hotel and later take a high-speed train from Beijing to Xi' an. The rest of our day is at leisure, and we are free to stroll around the city. We can choose to relax

After breakfast, we visit the world-famous UNESCO world heritage site the " Terracotta Army Museum," located in the northeast of Xi' an. Its content depicts the army of Qin Shi Huang, the first ruler of China. The collection of sculptures is made out of terracotta, an estimate from 2007 puts the number to more than 8,000 soldiers,130 chariots with 520 horses, and 150 cavalry horses. The majority remain buried in the pits near Qin Shi Huang's mausoleum.
We visit the Xi' an Ancient Circumvallation located at the center of Xi' an city. The rectangular was constructed by the imperial capital in Tang dynasty in the early Ming Dynasty (1373-1378) and is the most preserved and significant wall construction in China's history. With a height of 12 meters, the bottom width of 18 meters and top width of 15 meters, the Ancient near 12 kilometers long circumvallation consists of 4 city gates: Changle gate to the east (2590 metres), Anding gate to the west (2631.2 metres) , Yongning gate to the south (3441.6 metres) , and Anyuan gate to the north (3241 metres). Continue to the famous Muslim street that embraces many ancient courtyards as well as some ten diverse-sized mosques built at different times. Around twenty-thousand Muslims retained their religious tradition and lifestyle in the area. The fascination attracts thousands of people to come here every year. We take a late afternoon train from Xi' a to Chengdu.
In the morning, we visit the Panda Breeding Centre located near the city of Chengdu which is the capital of Sichuan province. Established in 1987, it is a non-profit research center providing a breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. Chengdu is famous for its piquancy, hot pot being a typical one. Introduced from Chongqing, Chengdu hot pot has its style ranging from simple to moderately spicy. It is one of the eight major components in Chinese cuisine. We recommend trying out a local Sichuan hot pot for dinner.
Overnight in Chengdu.We take the flight from Chengdu to Lhasa. Upon arrival, our local tour guide will pick us up at the airport and escort us to the hotel in Lhasa. The rest of the day is at leisure so we can adapt to the high altitude of Lhasa.
Overnight in Lhasa.In the morning, we visit the famous Potala Palace; former residence of the Dalai Lama and was constructed by the fifth Dalai Lama. The current 14th Dalai Lama is on exile in McLeodganj, Dharamshala. We explore the grandest of these myriad chapels and experience its audience halls. We appreciate the brilliant golden burial chortens; tombs of the past Dalai Lamas, and a tremendous number of Buddhist arts comprising of frescoes, Thangkas, and Mandalas et cetera. In the afternoon, we pay a visit to one of the holiest temples in Tibet, the Johkang Temple; a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site " Historic Ensemble of the Potala Palace." It was built during Songtsen Gonpo's reign by princess Wencheng of Tang Dynasty, 647 A.D, and Barkhor Kora is a circumambulation route marked by four massive stone incense burners placed at the corners of the temple complex. The Indian vihara design inspires the architectural style and later resulted in a blend of the Nepalese and Tang dynasty styles after extension. We see the Wen Cheng princess show at night.
Overnight in Lhasa.Today, we visit two essential monasteries in Lhasa, the Drepung, and Sera. Jamyang Choeje founded the Drepung monastery which is situated at the foot of a mountain in Tibet in 1416. It used to be an abode to 10000 monks and renowned for its high academic standards comparable to Nalanda as a reference to the great Buddhist monastic university in India. Having finished the lunch, tourists would continue to visit the Sera Monastery; founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa's disciple Jamchen Choejeas as a a complex of structures with the Great Assembly Hall and three colleges. The original Sera Monastery holds accountability for about 19 shelters, including four nunneries, which are all located in the foothills north of Lhasa. The Buddhist Scriptures debating held in the monastery's courtyard around 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., is a highlight of the day.
