Here we learn about how the Vietnamese resistance fighters constructed the pits during the 'French' and 'American' wars. We crawl underground to get a better sense for what life was like living and fighting in the labyrinth of the caves and tunnels. We hear incredible stories of the residents' resilience and see historical wartime weapons. We make our way to Saigon for a city tour. The tour starts at the Reunification Hall, earlier called the Presidential Palace, pictures of the building circulated around the world when tanks stormed the gates as Saigon fell to the North Vietnamese on 30 April 1975. We can listen to the echoes of time while walking through this historic downtown site. Later, we take a stroll to Ho Chi Minh City's colonial quarter, walking past scenes of everyday life on the way. The massive expense of the tomb and the forced labor used in its construction spawned a coup plot that was discovered and suppressed. Tu Duc's tomb is 5km south of Hue on the Van Nien Hill in Duong Xuan Thuong village.

We then continue to visit The Nguyen Emperor Khai Dinh's, Royal Tomb. It is unique among the royal tombs in Hue. Where other royal tombs are expensive and invite respectful reflection, Khai Dinh built his final resting place to be monumental in style and bombastic in execution.
