Enjoy a nine-day trip to the west of Sichuan along with Beijing. Experience a tour of Hutong on a tricycle. Visit the ancient Mutianyu Great Wall. Take a cable car, toboggan and take a fantastic high-speed train from Beijing to northeast Xi'an all in a day to the UNESCO world heritage site, "Terracotta Army Museum." Walk around the rectangular Xi'an Ancient Circumvallation and the famous Muslim street. Try out a local Sichuan hotpot for a taste of the local cuisine.
Hike to experience the local culture. Visit the Tibetan temple, Lamasi. Catch views of the Mount Siguniang in Sichuan province, the highest mountain of Qionglai Mountain Chain in Western China. Get enthralled with scenic snowy mountains, glistening lakes, and lush grasslands during the journey. Have lunch together with local hosts before embarking on a hike to the forest school and learn about its mission and history before getting back to the host for a warm and hearty dinner. Learn about the architectural style and history that conforms to nature itself.
We are greeted upon arrival at the Beijing Capital International Airport and dropped off at the hotel.
Included meals: None.After breakfast, we visit the Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City while enjoying a tour of Hutong on a tricycle. Hutong is an ancient city in Beijing, where hutongs or narrow alleys in northern Chinese cities run into several thousand. The Forbidden City reflects the history to the Yuan (1206-1341), Ming (1368-1628) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.
We visit the Mutianyu Great Wall, a northern barrier of what is now Beijing through ages keeping the peace, a section of the wall that is less crowded. We can either take a cable chair or walk a thousand steps up to the Great Wall and walk around for some while. The construction of the Mutianyu Wall started in the mid-6th century during China's Northern Dynasties (386-581) and what now remains is the interior restoration made during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). We travel in a cable car uphill and toboggan downhill.
Overnight: BeijingWe take a morning flight from Beijing to Chengdu where we are picked up from the airport and dropped off to the hotel. We check-in and after a brief rest head to The Chengdu Panda Base which is located 10km away from the main city center.
Overnight in Chengdu.An early start at 8:00 am required as Rilong is 250km from Chengdu. Roughly halfway to Rilong, we stop for lunch at Wolong before continuing the climb to the Balang pass. The intensifying scenic beauty takes hold as we travel further into the mountains of Kham with the quaint Tibetan villages nestled amongst the green slopes. After a final 40km of hairpin bends on the vehicle we reach the Balang pass. where we catch the first glimpse of Mt. Siguniang whose main peak looks like massive snow topped chisel facing the sky. The road further sweeps down to the Tibetan town of Rilong where we stop for the nights stay as we acclimatize to the high altitude of 3200 meters.
Overnight in Rilong.Today we walk along the Changping Gully, a long gently sloped sided valley featuring spectacular pristine sceneries. We start at around 09:00 a.m. from our guesthouse after breakfast for the 18km hike. The hike helps us gain insight into the local minorities and their culture. If the weather allows, we are granted with stunning sights of the panoramic Mt. Siguniang, Mt. Pomiu and Mt. Luotuofeng or ' Camel peak.' Later we visit the Tibetan temple, Lamasi. ad for lunch, we enjoy a local noodle dish called the " Mian Kui." We return to Rilong for the night.
Overnight in Rilong.After breakfast, we take a sight-seeing bus for a visit to the Shuangqiao Valley. We get scenic views of the snowy mountains, glistening lakes, and lush grasslands during the journey. We can observe the generally busy lifestyle of the people as they are seen with their small businesses of selling local produce in the valley. We are treated with a simple lunch on the way where local people serve food and snacks. We return to Rilong for our final night in this beautiful place.
Overnight in Rilong.After breakfast, we drive about 3 hours by bus to Zhonglu village in Danba. After arrival in Zhonglu, we are met and warmly welcomed by the host family as we settle into this lovely village. We have lunch together with our kind hosts before embarking on a hike to the forest school and learn about its mission and history before getting back to the host for a warm and hearty dinner.
Note: If we stay overnight at the school then we will have an introduction about the school and then take a walk nearby.After our breakfast, we drive back to Chengdu which takes 7 hours on the way; our trip comes to an end upon arriving in Chengdu. We are dropped off to the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport for our final departing flight.
