Overnight in Siem Reap.Breakfast at the hotel. We start our sightseeing tour by bike to the Angkor area where we spend our day exploring the spectacular ancient ruins. Famous for its series of giant human faces carved in stone at the South Gate of Angkor Thom, the impressive Bayon Temple, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King and Angkor Wat temple complex which is the largest and the most complete temple. This 12th-century architectural masterpiece covers an area of about 210 hectares. We then continue to the Preah Khan, built in 1191 during the reign of King Jayavarman VII; a warrior king celebrated for reconstructing the once fragmented Khmer Empire. In 1165, when Jayavarman rushed home from the Cham Kingdom, he arrived too late to prevent Tribhuvanadityavarman from crowning himself as the King of the Khmers at the island of Neak Pean.
We continue our visit to the temple of Ta Prohm. The jungle covered temple is an astounding sight. Enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers embrace the stone foundations of the structure. Such a view gives us an impression of the powerful forces of nature reclaiming man's creation.
Overnight in Siem Reap.After our breakfast at the hotel, we visit the floating village of Kompong Pluk, where we get on a wood boat to explore the Cambodian houses on stilt and the flooded forest before reaching to Tonle Sap Lake for a glimpse of the local fishermen and other activities. We walk along the road in front of the royal palace to get to the main shrine, where locals worship the statue of Preah Ang Chek, Yeay Teap and Preah Ang Chorm. Flowers are vital for the Cambodian worshippers. We continue to visit the " Old Market" called Psar Chars. It is a very lively market in Cambodia where anything and everything is for sale!
We then continue to a highly respected and large Wat Bo pagoda, founded in the 18th century. The Wat Bo contains distinctive wall paintings of the late 19th-century Reamker. We glance upon the daily-life market scenes such as the colonial era French officer at the market, an opium-smoking Chinese merchant and the French soldiers attending a traditional dance performance. A collection of Buddha statues located behind the central Buddha is also a point of interest. We spend the rest of the day at " Chantiers Ecoles - Les Artisans d' Angkor." It provides training to the young Cambodians to revive the ancient Khmer traditions of stone carving and wood sculpting.
Overnight in Siem Reap.After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer to the airport for our departure flight to Vientiane. On arrival at the airport, our local guide will meet us and transfer us to check in at the hotel.
We are free to stroll around the city for our first impression of this ancient city.
Overnight in Vientiane.In the morning, we visit the Buddhist temple of Wat Si Muang which is rumored to have supernatural powers. We head out to see an enchanting collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures on the meadow alongside the Mekong river at the Buddha Park which is very close to the Friendship Bridge. Some 200 religious images dating back over 500 years were created by a mysterious monk revealing his wisdom about the universe and spreading his philosophy on life.
In the afternoon, we visit notable highlights of the capital; including the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, the oldest Wat Sisaket and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, previously home to the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Enroute to the That Luang Stupa, Laos's national icon, we stop to snap some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument. The structure is well known as Vientiane's own Arc de Triumph. Our day comes to an end with a magnificent sunset view over the Mekong River.
Overnight in Vientiane.Upon arrival at Luang Prabang on our morning flight, we head to the striking representation on the Laotian architecture, Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground. We then visit the Royal Palace Museum, which houses a range of fascinating artifacts.
If time permits, we take a stroll around the small city streets, watching the life of local people. In the afternoon, we reach the top of Mount Phousi for a panoramic sunset view of the city and the Mekong river as well as an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa. Our tour ends with a visit to the famous Night Market, where we see a lovely selection of local handmade textiles.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.The mission of this park is to create a research center and study the different species of butterflies in Laos. It focuses on publishing about these butterflies, host plants and preservation.
We continue to cycle further to the cascading Kuang Si waterfalls. The falls is the biggest in the Luang Prabang area with three tiers leading to a 50-meter drop into pristine azure pools before flowing downstream. The lakes make great swimming holes and are very popular with both tourists and locals.
We have the chance to walk to a nearby village of Ban Thapene, rarely visited by tourists, we can explore the hidden waterfalls there.
If we wish, we can make a short visit to the Bear Rescue Center. The center houses a couple of dozen animals rescued from the hands of poachers and traffickers.
On our way back to Luang Prabang, we visit the Ock Pop Tock Living Craft Center. The traditionally styled center is close to the Mekong river where top quality fabrics are produced. It offers free tours every half-hour. The spot is one of the best to admire the sunset over Luang Prabang.
We transfer back to the hotel late afternoon.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.Our driver will pick us up from the hotel early at 6:30 a.m. and transfer us to the boat pier. We cruise upstream to Pakbeng on the boat. We are treated to a French breakfast onboard after the introduction of the crew. We stop to visit the famous Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting) and the thousands of Buddha images it hosts. Local food is served onboard for our lunch. We will have some leisure time in Pakbeng until dusk. In the afternoon a typical snack and drink are served on board. We later retreat to our accommodation for the night.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Our local guide greets us and helps us continue our trip to Huay Xay by boarding a boat at 06:45 a.m. We make our way to a village to learn about the way of living and the origins of the rural hill tribe people. Lunch is served on-board before a final brief stop in Pak Tha for having necessary boat documents signed. Then, before arrival in Huay Xay, we initiate our palate to local flavors by tasting seasonal fruits, drinks, and snacks. Arrival in Huay Xay will be around 5:00 pm. From there, we transfer directly to the border, where our guide will help us purchase the bus tickets for crossing the Mekong River into Thailand. Upon arrival at Chiang Khong, we meet our tour guide holding a signboard with our name on it.
We transfer to the hotel in Chiang Rai for check-in. King Meng Rai founded this capital in Northern Thailand in 1262 as the first capital of Lanna Thai, the "Kingdom of a Million Rice fields." The province contains Thailand and northernmost point at Mae Sai, well known for its serene mountain scenery. North Chiang Rai lies within the main commercial center of the region known as the Golden Triangle, the convergent area of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos borders which is an excellent base for exploring the region.
Overnight in Chiang Rai.After Breakfast, we further our visit to the Golden Triangle overlooking the Mae Khong River. We continue to Chiang Saen for a visit to the 14th-century ruins. Then return to the hotel with a stop en route to visit the Hall of Opium – an insightful museum focusing on the history of the Golden Triangle and the opium trade. A multi-million dollar museum in the sleepy village of Baan Sop Rusk provides a deep insight into the opium associated area. We drive to Mae Sai the border between Thailand and Myanmar, then across Myanmar (we are required to carry our passports with us). We drive back to the hotel in Chiang Rai. Dinner for the night is suggested at the hotel.
Overnight in Chiang Rai.After breakfast, we enjoy a scenic drive up to the Doi Tung Royal Villa in Boi Tung, built in the mountain 2000 meters above sea-level. The site is a unique mix of Swiss and Lanna architectural styles and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and valleys. A large and beautiful flower garden, the Mae Fah Luang Garden lies adjacent to the villa along with a memorial hall which commemorates the Princess Mother, the mother of the king of Thailand. We continue to drive uphill to Wat Phra That Doi Tung constructed on a mountain peak with the fantastic view of all temples in Thailand called Doi Tung in 911 A.D (1454 B.E.), a significant temple for Buddhists regarded as the holiest sanctuary in Chiang Rai. The stupa enshrines the collar-bone of Lord Buddha, known as Phra That in Thai, and it is a sacred religious monument deeply revered by Buddhist followers throughout Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, we head back to the hotel.
Overnight in Chiang Rai.In the Morning, we take a nice 4-hour drive to Chiang Mai and pass through Chiang Rai city where we stop for a quick visit of the temple complex of Wat Phra Kaew which is an essential symbol of Thai people. Wat Phra Kaew was appointed the First Royal Temple of Chiang Rai on 31 May 1978. We continue the route and stop for a visit of the Wiang Pa Pao natural hot springs, which have three springs in the area with an average temperature of 90 degrees Celsius. Here we have free time to relax before continuing to Chiang Mai. On arrival, we transfer to the hotel for check-in.
Chiang Mai (New City), founded in 1296 by King Mengrai as the capital of the first independent Thai state known as Lanna Thai (Kingdom of One Million Rice Fields). The northern Tai cultural and religious center was home to southern China immigrants into Thailand and remained so throughout the raging Burmese attacks. Chiang Mai was captured by the Burmese troops in 1556 until 1775 when King Taksin drove the Burmese forces back to the near the present border and retook the city that stands on the Ping River, a tributary to the broad Chao Phraya River. The region is still strongly influenced by the Burmese architecture, culture, cuisine, language, and religion. In the afternoon, we visit one of the most sacred Buddhist temple in Northern Thailand, the Wat Phrathad Doi Suthep. The temple dates back to 1384 A.D and lies 3500 feet above the sea level offering a panoramic view of the city. We reach the temple containing a holy relic of Lord Buddha by taking a challenging 300 steps staircase flanked by gigantic legendary Nagas.
We recommend dinner at the resort for the night.
Overnight in Chiang Mai.After breakfast, we head for an excursion to an elephant working campsite located approximately 70 km from Chiang Mai at the Ta Yaak Village, Chiang Dao District. The camp, surrounded by rocky hills is home to the elephants on the banks of the Mae Ping River. We can see these giants take a bath in the river, drag and push logs. Around 10:00 a.m there is an exciting demonstration of how these tamed elephants work in the Thai teak forests. Next, we enjoy an exciting elephant back ride around the camp through the jungle and along the river, upwards to a remote Lisu hill tribe village. We board bamboo rafts along scenic stretches of the Mae Ping River. The rafting lasts nearly about an hour. Lunch is at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we are free to shop in the Chiang Mai town.
Overnight in Chiang Mai.We fly to Bangkok from the Chiang Mai airport. We are at leisure and free to stroll around on our own.
Overnight in Bangkok.After our breakfast, we are free until transfer to Bangkok airport for our final departure flight.
