Upon arrival at Ho Chi Minh, we are greeted by our local tour guide at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport and transferred to visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Post Office, the Reunification Palace, and the War Remnants Museum to learn more about the Vietnam War.
Overnight in Saigon.We start our day with breakfast at the hotel and leave for exploration of the Cu Chi Tunnels. These tunnels which were never discovered by the American Forces and stretch over 200 km. It was a significant part of the Viet Cong base during the American War. This underground network, dug by hand connected command posts, hospital shelter, and weapon factories. We transfer back to Saigon in the late afternoon.
Overnight in Saigon.We enjoy breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the outskirts of Saigon. We begin the tour on the beautiful roads of the countryside. Starting at the Tourist Boat Station (My Tho), we cruise along the Tien (Mekong) river and observe the four islands: Dragon, Unicorn, Tortoise, and Phoenix and enjoy fresh coconut juice. Later, we visit the fish floating market and fish-craft village along the river. After a brief visit to the Thoi Son Island, we walk around the countryside roads seeing orchards, enjoying tropical fruits and listening to their traditional music. A rowing boat on a small canal with beautiful scenery of the countryside, to visit the honey-bee farm and enjoy honey-tea. Stop at Phoenix Island to visit Coconut Monk Temple and Crocodile-pond. Lunch at Halal restaurant Driver back to Saigon
Overnight in Saigon.The day starts with breakfast at the hotel, free and comfortable at the traveler's leisure until we transfer to the airport for flying to Siem Reap. Upon arrival at Siem Reap, picked up from the airport and then move to check in the hotel.
Overnight in Siem Reap.We have breakfast at the hotel and start our sight-seeing tour of the Angkor area. We spend an entire day exploring the wondrous ancient ruins along with the South Gate of Angkor Thom. It is well known for its series of colossal human faces carved in stone. Comprising of the impressive Bayon and Baphoun temple, the Royal Enclosure, the Elephant Terrace, the Phimeanakas, the Terrace of the Leper King and the largest as well as the complete temple of Angkor Wat. This architectural masterpiece constructed in the 12th century covers an area of about 210 hectares. We further visit the temple of Ta Prohm covered in jungles, an incredible sight to see. There are large fig trees and extensive creepers which hold themselves in the stone foundations of the structure giving the impression of a man's creation being reclaimed by the powerful forces of nature.
Overnight stay in Siem Reap.We begin the day with a breakfast at the hotel; later make our way wandering on a newly paved road to the carefully carved and well-preserved temple of Banteay Srei. Along the way, we take a break at the Preah Dark village and follow these with a visit the Banteay Samre Temple adorned with scenes depicting Hindu and Buddhist scenes. Later, we continue to visit the Roluos Group. The monuments of Roluos, which served as the capital of Indravarman I (reigned 877-889). King Indravarman I built Preah Ko, dedicated to his ancestors in the late 9th century. The Bakong Temple, an ancient structure, is the largest and most interesting of the Roluos temple group, with King's active Buddhist monastery just to the north of the east entrance. Lolei was built on an islet in the center of a vast reservoir(now rice fields) by Yasovarman I, the founder of the first city at Angkor.
Overnight in Siem Reap.We start with breakfast at the hotel. We are free at our leisure until transfer to the airport for our trip to Luang Prabang. On arrival at the Luang Prabang airport, we will be met by our guide and moved to the hotel for check-in.
We travel to Luang Prabang, located in the center of northern Laos categorized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding cultural, historical and architectural values and its peaceful relationship between the built and natural environment. We are free to stroll around to grab our first impression of this ancient city.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.We wake up as the first ray of sunshine hits upon the beautiful land. We prepare to join the most sacred tradition of Laos, the usual morning almsgiving, which dates to the 14th century. More than 200 Buddhist monks depart from various temples to gather their regular meal from the faithful residents by sitting quietly on the streets. We visit the temporary morning market close to the late Royal Palace. Merely set on the ground, the local people come here to trade rice, vegetables, fish, chicken and other daily supplies. It is the ultimate way to experience the flavors of local life. After breakfast at the hotel, we climb the 329 steps to the top of Phousi Hill to grab a bird's eye view of the city and the Mekong River. Later, we drive to the Kuang Si Falls Butterfly Park (closed from 15 Apr – 30 Jun; 01-14 Sep, & 01 Jan every year), whose mission is to create a research center studying and publishing about the Laotian butterflies, host plants, and their preservation. We then head to the beautiful Kuang Si waterfalls, the biggest in the Luang Prabang area with three tiers leading to a 50-meter drop into spectacular azure pools before flowing downstream. The lakes also make great swimming holes and are very popular among the locals and tourists alike.
We have an opportunity to walk to the nearby village of Ban Thapene and explore an undiscovered beauty, the hidden waterfalls. We have an option to take a short visit to the Bear Rescue Center, an abode to a couple of dozen animals rescued from the hands of poachers and traffickers.
On returning to Luang Prabang, we take a brief visit to the Ock Pop Tock Living Craft Center, set serenely close to the Mekong basin. It is a beautiful, traditional styled workshop, where the weavers, spinners and batik makers produce top-quality fabrics, offering free tours every half an hour. This place makes it one of the best spots to admire the beautiful sunset in Luang Prabang. We are transferred back to the hotel late afternoon.
Overnight stay in Luang Prabang.After breakfast, we visit the Royal Palace Museum, built in 1904 for King Sisavang's family during the French colonial era. We then embark on a leisurely cruise along the Mekong River, which gives us a spectacular view of the pacifying countryside before we get to the mystic Pak Ou Caves. The two linked caves are stuffed with thousands of gold coated Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by the pilgrims. Along the way, we take a break at the village of Ban Xanghai to tasted the locally made rice wine.
We head back to the city and visit the magnificent Wat Xiengthong a superb piece of Laotian temple architecture, which presents a sweeping two-tiered roof and ornate mosaics including a beautiful "Tree of Life" glass montage on the rear temple wall. We visit the Traditional Art and Ethnology Center(closed on Mondays) to learn about the various ethnicities in Laos. From there, we transfer to view the beautiful sunset in Wat Prabath; a tranquil place to catch the last sunlight of the day. We end the tour with a trip to the famous "Night Market," where we find various collections of handmade textiles made by the locals and villagers living around Luang Prabang.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.We are free to walk around the resort and the nearby village or relax at the inviting pool before taking a flight back to Vietnam's capital, Hanoi. Upon arrival, we are welcomed by our local tour guide at the Noi Bai International Airport and transferred to the hotel.
Overnight in Hanoi.The full-day tour takes us around Ha Noi 's most interesting sights, including the Ho Chi Minh Complex: Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and his Stilt House, Presidential Palace, the One Pillar Pagoda, and Tran Quoc Pagoda. We continue with our trip to the Temple of Literature, Ngoc Son Temple, and either one of the city's museums, the History Museum or the Ethnology Museum. We also visit the Old Quarter known for its 36 streets and ancient craft guilds.
Overnight in Hanoi.
Note: Ho Chi Minh mausoleum closes on Monday, Friday and afternoons in weeks.We have breakfast at the hotel and start the day through the countryside to Ky Son Village. We arrive at the Moon Garden Homestay in Ky Son village. A welcome drink with local fresh green tea is served. We have enough leisure time for discovering Moon garden Homestay and Ky Son village on our own.
We have a cooking class after which we have our lunch. Later, we are treated to a Hand Spa where we enjoy having our fingers dipped in a fragrant lime bowl followed by a traditional herbal hand massage. Then, we have free time for further relaxation. We talk to the host families, share their local delicacies and learn about their traditional cultures and customs. We can learn Vietnamese with the help of the local family members.
We have a choice of selecting one of the methods of transportation, either choose a short ride of 6 km or a long journey of 12 km round trip;
Short ride: We take a bicycle ride to discover the Ky Son, Tam Son, Van Minh, and Cham farming communities to and stop at any home we like for enjoying a cup of tea. Later, we visit the kindergarten (if it is open). We chat with local people about their daily life and farming practices. Alternatively, walking in the village, we can help with plowing or transplanting seedlings, harvesting rice (or cassava, corn, sweet potatoes, cucumber) depending on the harvest season.
Long ride: We take a bicycle ride with a local guide to discover the Ky Son, Tam Son, Van Minh, and Cham farming communities, Duong Lam ancient village and visit Mia Pagoda, Mong Phu Communal House. We then take a bike ride back along the ritual paths of the Thang town to discover Ngo Quyen's temple and tomb.
In the evening, we return to the Moon Garden for happy hour (the travelers will be offered some local tisane). While waiting for our foot bath in warm water with ginger, salt, and mugwort medicinal herbs to be prepared, the travelers we can enjoy the local drink and taste some of the local products such as traditional dessert, maize, sweet potato, cassava, peanuts, et cetera, depending on the season. We depart from Ky Son and leave for Hanoi.
Overnight in Hanoi.After breakfast at the hotel, we drive to the unique Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most beautiful landscapes in Southeast Asia. As we drive through the bay, we enjoy the sky, bright emerald green water and thousands of limestone cliffs.
Overnight on board.
Note: The itinerary can change without notice depending on the weather.As we continue our tour of the bay, breakfast is served on board. We climb a sampan to visit the Luon Cave. After a lavish brunch on-board, we head back to Hanoi. We transfer to the Noi Bai International Airport for a flight to Hue. On arrival at Hue, we meet our local guide and are transferred for check-in at the hotel. We are free to stroll around the city for grabbing our very first impression of this ancient city.
Overnight in Hue.We have breakfast at the hotel. We then take a private boat cruise along the Perfume River to visit our first destination of the day, the Thien Mu Pagoda. We proceed to visit the Imperial Citadel - built in 1804 recognized by UNESCO as a World Culture Heritage site. Later, we visit the Flag Tower, the Noon Gate, the Nine Dynastic Urns, the Nine Holy Cannons, the Thai Hoa Palace, and the Forbidden Purple City. In the afternoon, we transfer back to Hoi An.
Overnight in Hoi An.After our breakfast, our tour guide will meet us at the hotel. We check our bikes and begin to cycle in a group through the local market to buy some spices and vegetables for the cooking class. We continue cycling for an hour through the rice fields and peaceful villages that display the gardens of the area. After this, we arrive in Tra Que vegetable village where we take a pleasant walk through the garden and learn the different types of culinary herbs and vegetables which will be used in the cooking class. We meet the restaurant's chef to learn the recipes of a traditional Vietnamese cuisine which we prepare and have for lunch. We cycle back to the hotel.
Overnight in Hoi An.We transfer to My Son sanctuary. It includes numerous Champa temples, in a valley approximately two kilometers broad, and is surrounded by two mountain ranges. It was the site of a spiritual ceremony for the kings of the Champa dynasty. The My Son sanctuary was also a burial place of Champa royals and national heroes. The temple complex is one of the first Hindu temple complexes in South East Asia. It is the leading heritage site in Vietnam. Despite the destruction of the complex throughout the years, we still see many majestic ancient ruins of temples in the area. We get back to Hoi An by afternoon.
Overnight in Hoi An.After breakfast, we are free at leisure until our transfer to Da Nang Airport for a trip to Saigon. Upon arrival at Saigon, we meet our guide and transfer to the hotel for check-in.
Overnight in Saigon.Our explorations of Indochina comes to an end today as we head to the airport for our final departure flight.
