Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrival Day at Mafia Island

We fly from the JNIA Airport Dar es Salaam, connect a flight charter or transfer from the hotel in the city to the airport (this can be adjusted in the morning or the afternoon accordingly). The Spice Island is renowned for its multi-optional activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, and whale shark watching.

Upon arrival at the airport, our driver and a local guide will drive us to our unique accommodation for the night; a treehouse called the Chole Mjini.

Day 02 : Mafia Island Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, we leave for an early morning Mafia Island Tour. Today is a special day to encounter the Whale sharks of Mafia Island followed by a swim with the gentle sea giants. We are provided with an educational briefing and set sail on the show in search of the whale sharks. A thing to note during the tour is when we are approaching the sharks the engine is switched off as not to disturb or chasing the sharks. The tourists can later jump into the water and snorkel with them including taking photos and videos.
The tropical/sub-tropical regions are where Whale sharks are most often seen, this solitary aggregate in a few locations around the world, Mafia Island is one of the best places with one of the longest lasting aggregations.

Day 03 : Chole Town Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, we continue our activities at Chole town. There are many activities included, turtle hatching; sandbanks picnics, sunset cruise and visiting nearby villages. The price for the optional activities that our travelers may engage in is listed below;
* Scuba diving makes up for a unique experience with more than 400 coral species and exceptional reefs and dive sites to encounter. The price for will two tank dive will be approximately 110$ per person.
* Snorkeling in Chole Bay – Mafia Island marine park 15 km drive and then by boat to the bay. This cost 80 $ per person include rent of snorkeling gears and paddle board.

Day 04 : Departure Day

Our Mafia Island experience comes to an end as we depart for our early morning flight to Moshi. We will be received and transferred to the lodge for lunch along with the comfort of a day room before our evening departure from Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Accommodation

The hotel accommodations range from a span of an exclusive private island resort to comfortable small guesthouses. During our stay in Mafia Island we will experience unique stay in our accommodations ranging from treehouses and 4-star resorts. They are owned and run by the locals, with amenities found in hotels such as restaurants and swimming pools. The accommodations on this tour are on a twin sharing basis, and a single supplement charge of additional USD 500 is applicable on request. If a particular hotel/resort is unavailable during the period of booking, then alternative suggestions of the same category will be provided by the company.

Meals

We are provided with continental and local meal options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We do not provide any meals on the arrival day except for breakfast during the departure day, and on other days we provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Vegetarian and special diets are also available on request. Please let us know if you have any sorts of food-related allergies or specific dietary requirements.
